Christina Eliopoulos — Director/Writer

 

Christina Eliopoulos’ narrative film work reflects her interests in magical realism and immigrant identity and experience. Recently she was named as a finalist in the 2015 Academy Nicholl Screenwriting Competition for her script KING OF FLORIDA — a coming of age story set in a Greek sponge diving community in Depression era Florida. The same script won 1st Place in the genre Family/Animated, in the Final Draft Big Break Screenwriting Contest, one of 7 top winners out of 7,000 scripts. Her most recent project, in collaboration with her longtime producing partner Elizabeth Kinder, is a narrative feature entitled GLOW, a story of a young woman’s search for her estranged mother and the American Dream on the boardwalk playland of Ocean City, MD. Christina will direct the film from her original screenplay. Additionally, Christina has directed music videos, doc shorts and brand films in partnership with Waif & Stray/Free Market Films. She directed and produced DEMON ON WHEELS, a documentary feature about an old hot rodder, his woman and the 1968 resto-Mod Mustang that comes between them. The film debuted in theaters and on streaming video in the summer of 2015. A New Jersey native, her first doc feature, GREETINGS FROM ASBURY PARK, a personal look at how eminent domain affects a family and a small town, premiered on PBS in May 2009.
